Sometimes, Febreze just won’t do!

Hello Dear Reader,

I have bleached all the grout and polished all the taps with window cleaner. I have use Pledge to make all the wood surrounds and skirting boards shine. I have washed all the dogs in Pantene and given them and extra sniff. I have trained them to look at visitors with big puppy eyes and look cute. I have cut the grass, edged the lawn, cleaned all the windows and the inside and outside of every cupboard. I have bleached the over flows and put Dettol down every drain. The ceilings might collapse because everything is in the loft. I’ve even put my sewing machine away and tidied up my sewing room so it looks like a bed room.I even arranged the cup cupboard so all the handles face one way! You never know where people look!

That reminds me……………..I must scrub the steps and polish the door handles!

I wish I had a house viewing every week to have the house this clean all the time!

Until tomorrow,

Love Froogs xxxx

  1. When my kids were tiny we used to do house-swap holidays - there's nothing like having someone else come and stay in your home to make you spring clean it to within an inch of its life - luckily all our swap partners were lovely people so the houses we stayed in were in the same condition and we always came home to the delayed fruits of our labours

  2. fingers crossed! Good luck, I love it when we look at houses that are clean. it makes me think the people have looked after it. and I am more likely to buy it.

Hope all goes well. I cant wait to see the house you buy.

  3. Now all you need is an apple pie baking in the oven when they arrive…..

Seriously, if you were considering air fresheners, don't. I would rather smell CLEAN, like you'd just disinfected the place. (Although they might wonder WHAT you were disinfecting…so maybe not).

When we sold our house in Oregon, the realtor held an open house. We, too, cleaned and polished to within an inch of our lives. I remember leaving and closing the door and wondering why my house wasn't that way all of the time????

    Good luck!

  4. Another one wishing you the best of luck - your house looks great, so I have my fingers crossed that the right buyer comes along very soon. Wondering if you have found somewhere to buy? My OH always wanted to wait until we had a buyer before we started to look, then we had a mad rush to look around for our next house - have moved five times with him, but we feel quite settled where we are for now, as we have been here nearly 10 years. I do get itchy feet now and again but with the costs of moving, it can't be done too often!

  5. Sprinkle some cinnamon in water and microwave it about an hour before the event. It will smell like you baked, making you seem caring and your house seem welcoming. Or, do the same with a tsp of vanilla. With either you don't want a strong smell, just a hint.

  6. Now I need to google and find out what a donkey stone is!

Good luck, Froogs - hope all that hard work pays off, but if you don't get an offer then just sit back and enjoy the clean!

  7. Best of luck with your house viewing Froogs.
I am hoping that the “right” buyer comes along and makes an offer. I wouldn't want to sell my house to someone who wasn't going to look after it, no matter how much they paid me.

  8. All went well. They discounted all the houses but mine and one other are their final choices. They are coming back again with a structural engineer to cost putting in an ensuite bathroom - we can get quotes for them

  9. Great news! Fingers crossed..

On the related topic of cleaning, I wondered if you had any thoughts on cheap cleaning products and other household items (toilet rolls etc). I seem to end up spending quite a lot on these and want to make sure I'm getting the lowest cost! ALSO, our lovely cat Jeremy gets through a lot of food, and that is another big cost - I've not seen any cheap value ranges of cat food - only dog food. Any thoughts?

  10. I buy aldi thick bleach for 49p and that cleans the loo, sink, work tops, morrisons value cream cleanser for 34p - the same as jif, aldi washing up liquid is great, aldi sell 9 loo rolls for £1.99 and they are fine - do what they are supposed to do. Aldi do spray kitchen cleaner and spray window cleaner for 69p - their cleaning products have won awards. We get great pet food deals from pets at home and try using dried brands such as Iams and make sure you only give them the advised amount - it takes only a little amount - I hope that helps

  11. Approved foods sometimes have deals on dried cat food and Aldi have recently started selling 6 400g tins of catfood for £2.29, (the next cheapest that I've found is Asda, 24 cans for £10.00 at the moment.

Thank you for the review of the Aldi toilet rolls, Froogs. I have recently started seriously shopping at Aldi, (fantastic, where else can you get 1kg of British grown carrots for 39p?), but was a little hesistant about using their toilet rolls as cheap toilet roll is often so thin that you end up using more for the same result!. This week they are selling mini ovens, like the one you mentioned but I can't remember how much for! I do remember thinking that the price was reasonable though.

Fingers still crossed that your buyers like your house best, (grins, now I'm sounding about six years old….I wish!)

  12. Froogs, you are so funny. I,too, wish for a more often “Company Coming Day” for that same reason. I do seem to scrub things up a bit more than usual for visitors. Sad, but we are all stretched so thin these days.
