| Froogs - 5′ 10″ - for those who asked |
Hello Dear Reader,
You may have noticed that I haven’t written much about food recently. It’s that time of the year again! Froog’s weightloss challenge. I can lose it, but I slip after about six months! It took me three attempts, many years ago, to give up smoking. I’ve lost weight twice and put it back on but I stand a very good chance of keeping it off this time as Dearly Beloved is doing this with me.
I’m not joining the gym, Weight Watchers, Slimming world, eating dust or drinking shit shakes; I’m just eating small meals and exercising as much as I can. I’m getting used to the hour of exercise a day. I would encourage everyone to find a way of exercising without spending any money. No one needs a gym membership or fancy equipment. I favour walking, I stick my ipod in, put my old trainers on an walk a four mile route and keep the pace to a reasonable puff.
I came back from France 1lb under 14stone! I am now 13 stone 5lbs - and Dearly Beloved has also lost half a stone. I’ll save even more money this way as we’re eating even less with no cake for snacks………….in fact, no snacks at all!
So, anyone want to join Froogs free to join frugal weight loss support group? I’ll blog weekly about frugal exercise and weight loss and I’ll continue to save all my money to give to Santander! So, no fear about that changing.
Until tomorrow,
Love Froogs

Welcome the new look slimline froogs.
Agree there's no need for gym, just cutting the lawn does as much calorie-burning, or collecting and processing firewood. Does some good as well.

How tall are you Froogs, we weigh the same but I look like a dumpling. You look very slim. I like walking the dog instead of any regimented exercise. I have had weight problems all my adult life. Good luck with your journey.

Im with you on that, I really want to lose weight but dont want to spend money on a slimming club paying someone for me to stand on their scales each week to tell me how much I weigh seems mad when I can do that myself at home! I also need to exercise and again cannot justify paying a gym membership so I would appreciate any hints and tips - thank you as always I love your blog!

Nicely done, Froogs! My favourite free exercise of choice is my bike. I've spent £25 on it this summer when the tyre blew out, but other than that it's a pretty reliable old thing! (Much more so than the car!)
I've got some extra lbs to lose. I accept your challenge! 🙂

I'm with you froogs - following exactly the same principles, eating smaller portions, cutting out snacks and loads of walking. I've lost 1.5 stone in the past 3 months. Still lots to go though so look forward to hearing how you get on as inspiration 🙂

I'm down a size due to walking. The dog loves me and reminds me it's time to go out.
I'm more willing than he is to go out on rainy days!
I've found my taste buds have changed with the exercise.

Ahhh! I thought the other day Froogs hadn't posted some of her delicious recipes lately and that you were looking great in your jeans in one of your last posts. 2 and 2 makes 4.
You are so right, it is just a question of being careful with food and get MOVING! As you say cycling, walking, cleaning, making firewood or whatever your particular thing is.

I totally agree with you about no need for the gym. It's about thinking creatively about how you fit in exercise. I found it hard to squeeze in any exercise in the evening, so around 18 months ago I started walking to & from work (4 miles in total). This has worked - I feel so much better, and it's become so much of a habit I can't imagine not walking.

That's the best way to do it, rather than doing 'diets'. Very encouraging to have other half doing it too. I'd be happy to lose about 6lbs but that's the most difficult to lose.

I'll join you after we finish the pie I bought today, the chocolates in the canister, and the ice cream in the freezer. Aren't I pathetic?

Ooooh I love this! I really need to drop about another half stone ideally and there's no way I would join a gym or a weight watching club.
I am trying to cycle to work when the weather allows and try to walk for my half hour lunch break and would follow your blogs with great interest (not that I don't already).
I just need to resist Aldi's very reasonably priced naughty snacks possibly a bit more! :-O

I so agree! I like a Pilates DVD now and then, but mostly I walk or clean or bike.

Hey froogs - good luck with your campaign! I'm in the same boat as you, just a little further down the line. Since new year I've lost 30lb just by eating more sensibly and doing more (though being a teacher does add to the running around!) Down from 14stone to 11st 12! Bring the next two on (well except for my upcoming week in Portugal he he!)

Whatever your weight, you carry it very well. I'd have never guessed you are over 13 stone.
I'm waiting until my visitors go on Friday and then it's back to the weight-loss-mines for me. Have just been coasting/maintaining for the last 6 months. The first challenge is more exercise, so I too will be walking in the mornings.

Go Froogs. I have been slowly whittling away at my weight/size since January and have lost 7 lbs and more than 5cm off my butt! This is mammoth for me. About 10 lb more to go, but it feels great. I did it by eating less. That is all. We all eat too much. There are times when I am putting food on my plate I think ' how big is my stomach - really?' Then a bit goes back in the pot.
I am a gym member, and I go often and have taken up spin AND ride my bike as much as I can (most days after work when the weather permits). Now my dearly beloved had lost 1 stone and he is borrowing my bike till he gets one of his own and it is so nice to be sharing the loss…
Good luck with yours.

Very nice. Must be great to have the support of your spouse. Mine says, “He's married, so it doesn't matter how in shape he is, but I better keep working out, so he can enjoy my shape.” Huh!?! Anyway, it's very economical to be thin. 🙂

Brilliant, count me in! I've always struggled with weight, lost and regained 2 stone about 5 years ago. You've given me the confidence to see I can lose weight without spending loads, joining a gym, weight-watchers etc. You are doing brilliantly! I'm going to give it a go too.

My son and his wife have just gone backpacking round Thailand for 10 weeks and I might find it easier to stick to a healthier eating plan now they are not ordering Indian takeaways and bringing lovely wine home.

I would like to join the Froogs slimming club, I will start this weekend and get prepared with my shopping etc. Im looking forward to all the encouragement that you will give us. ps I would love a bike like yours, I have been looking on ebay and preloved but they are mostly too expensive or to far away to collect, just have to keep searching.
