Bag making workshop

Hello Dear Reader,

If only we’d had longer and if only we didn’t chat so much. Five ladies sat down to sew today. We learnt how to use a pattern to cut out our fabric. We used greaseproof paper to duplicate our pattern so we would take it away and make another bag at home.

Here are two of the bags. Three ladies had a variety of reasons for not finishing but went away with the skills to finish their bags and makes as many more as they chose. This fabric is grand but the participant had in payment for some work they did.

Here’s mine! I used some embroidered curtain fabric for the outside, a vintage sheet for the inside and a vintage pillow case for the edging. The exterior was donated and the interior came from a charity shop.

The fabric is stunning and I’ll be giving this to my mum.

A workshopee sent me a photo of her finished bag and I think it’s lovely! I love the deep blue and this is all made of thrifted and recycled fabric which is Yoosta-Bee at its best!

I would have loved to have shown you more but sometimes time is against us. I had a very early start and a lovely but busy day. I’m off for a sit down and cup of tea xxxx

Until tomorrow,

Love Froogs xxxx

  3. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Another fabulous day. I spent the rest of the evening finishing my bag off and learning more about my machine. The finished article is up on http://www.arweddindevon.blogspot.com/2012/12/bags-of-fun.html

It's far from brilliant, but I am very proud of my first ever machine sewn project. Hopefully the next bag will be better and the one after that.

The food was beautiful as always and the company superb.

    Love Arwedd xx

  4. Fab bags. Sounds like a lovely day, wish I didn't live so far away. You've inspired me to get the sewing machine out again, and I'm going to try the carrot cake recipe too, I just love cakes that are also a bit healthy. I love your blog, & have read it all, I've always lived quite frugally so really get where you are coming from. Keep up the good work - it's so inspiring, happiness is not based on material possessions and the culture of more, more, more. Today sounded like such fun for everyone and great bags to take away too. Are you going to market the pattern? Vee xx

  5. a bag anyone would be proud to walk down the street with. The fabric is great and I love the style of bag, have quite a few bag books but have not come across that style before, any chance of getting hold of the pattern from somewhere?

  7. Hi Julie - It's a simplicity pattern and I followed the instructions and I taught that to the group - there's no link xxx I can do a tutorial but people would need to buy the pattern to make it xxx
