Hello Dear Reader,
Start your walk by heading to the Cliff path due north of Trevarrian, between Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay, when you get there…..head for Watergate Bay and be prepared for mud, sheep, steep climbs and sweeping vistas!
We packed a picnic and coffee for three and headed off to spend a few hours and a walk with a friend and colleague who has a caravan on the north coast. We had a pot of tea and then set off.
The coast path is maintained by the National Trust and is open to every one. We exchanged cheery hellos with everyone we passed and walked far too close to the edge but couldn’t take our eyes off the views.
There wasn’t much surf today, what there was was blown out and no ‘clean waves’.
I would like to report that we saw loads of bumble bees who love these flowers.
Believe it or not, people carry surf board down the incredibly steep slopes to get to this tiny cove.
There were lots of places to sit, take in the air and get our breath back.
This is typical of the gradients of the walk but the views are worth it.
See what I mean?
Views, views, views and more views. Above is the view from behind and below is what we could see as we walked towards Watergate Bay. We avoided Watergate Bay today, polo on the beach………….wall to wall designer wellies, Range Rovers, Barbour jackets and Veuve Clicquot! I would have loved to have seen the polo ponies but could do without most of Kensington and Chelsea on the beach!
They looked hard core with their retro single fin boards and if you look very, very closely at the picture below you will just see them clambering down the cliffs to get to the waves. We passed many more surfers/runners and watched some of the surfers catch some waves but mostly they spent their time paddling out to disappointment.

Lovely rugged views

The photo of the surfers partway down the slope is wild! Sometimes it's hard to “get” the scale of the landscape without a person or animal in the picture. Those folks must be absolutely desperate to surf! Or maybe THEY are having a no-spend day out 😉

Ha ha I loved dolllys face. We have a similar hairy boy who I once bathed and stupidly walked in a cow field shortly afterwards. He practically dived into the freshest, greenest cow pat I have ever seen and looked thrilled with himself.
They are lovely pictures and views. We are hoping to do a road trip cheap break later in the year and would love to get to Cornwall. I have never been but it looks fab.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful part of the country.

I remember well, as a child, being dragged to many an isolated cove, collecting tiny shells, catching the sun and a long uphill walk back to the car. Happy days!

Thank you Frugal Queen for sharing your day out. It looked wonderful and made me very nostalgic. Here in land locked Dallas TX, I long for such vistas, you brought them closer for me.
Good job on all fronts, weight loss, cooking marathon yesterday and a great, no spend day today!
Love Pam in TX.xx

So you had fine weather today? Or was it yesterday - yes yesterday it was fine here in south Germany too, but today, oh my, nothing but rain and cold. Lovely to see your photos, reminds me of my time in England, long long ago.

Thanks for sharing your walk with us. Love the photos - full narrative and all.
I'm not a surfer or bodyboarder. Mr Sans was a surfer, and misses his days out on his board.
Our favourite no spend weekend is spent on our verandah, listening to music, going for a swim in our pool, reading the paper or a book. If we have friends over, we skip the reading. But spending the weekend doing these activities, with lots of conversation, is our choice of activity. With no use of car, no getting stuck in traffic, no need to find parking!
Life couldn't be better!

Your day sounds idyllic Froogs, and thank you for sharing the magnificent scenery with us. I too have had a lovely no spend day - 2 granddaughters stayed overnight, played with them all morning and when their parents had left with them, having had lunch with us, I pottered in the garden and enjoyed the glorious sunshine. Add in a walk along our own beautiful bit of coastline right outside my door and in my opinion no amount of shopping could begin to compete.

Well…I'm a Doc Martin fan-that's north Cornwall, right? (Anybody know if they are filming season 6 yet?). Seriously, I'd love to see Cornwall, and next year, I probably will! Looks like you've got a dog to wash tonight!

My OH had a go at bodyboarding last week. Looks like fun… maybe not for me, but you never know.

Your walk was beautiful. I only got to spend four days in your neck of the woods years ago, but the views everywhere were just wonderful, especially when the sun was shining.
I love being able to see lots of your posts at once. Is it sad to say that I have spend a rainy day reading back on lots of old ones? Thanks for sharing so much.

Looks like a brilliant day out if the photo's and the doggy's face are anything to go by.
I have never surfed in my life and as I can't swim, don't think I ever will. The surfers running down the hillside show me that it's definitely NOT the sport for me, brilliant photo of them 🙂

What a happy mucky dog, I bet she loved that day. I love those flowers, I think the pink ones are Sea Thrift?? You get them a lot on the coast in the Isle of Man. I have no idea what the yellow ones are, but they're beautiful. I'd love to live in such a lovely place. It's all flat where I live, even though I'm just right by the so called country.

What a beautiful way to spend a day. Absolutely gorgeous. We are having more picnics of the low budget variety. Right now we are on a seaside get away and I have a wonderful view of the Pacific rolling in.
